|Abstract:||The ubiquitous availability of knowledge is crucial to the development of a nation. The role of the ubiquitous library in the context of development, national unity as well as competitiveness is vital for any nation today. The world itself is being transformed from a production-based economy into a knowledge-based economy and any nation that has aspirations of playing a meaningful role in this new economy must work on developing an innovative information delivery system. Recognizing the fact that the library should maximize the benefit of broadband technology and the need to bring about a transformation in the provision of library services to the people, the u-Pustaka initiative have been introduced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in collaboration with eight (8) selected consortium libraries in Malaysia. u-Pustaka is a pilot project in order to improve library services in Malaysia. Bringing the concept of 1Malaysia Library, u-Pustaka provides access to the wealth of knowledge resources for all and can be accessed at anytime and anywhere without the boundaries of time and location via the Internet. u-Pustaka manifests smart collaboration between the government and the private sector in order to bridge the digital divide and knowledge gap between people in urban and rural areas through exchange information and to promote lifelong learning towards creating a knowledge society, inclusively. This paper aims to assess the effectiveness and achievement of u-Pustaka services after its post-implementation and also to share some new developments of u-Pustaka services in the near future.|
