dc.description.abstractThe study tour to Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima, Japan was made possible by the Japan Foundation and the National Diet Library. The objective of this tour is to exchange views and to share information on the development of children's literature in Asia, in conjunction with the proposed opening of the International Library of Children's Literature in Ueno, tokyo in the year 2000. The writer relates her experiences and concludes that the Japanese are far ahead of their counterparts in the development of children's literature.en_US
