Abstract: This paper reports on a study conducted to investigate the information requirements of 35 managers in Malaysia. This study was conducted in an attempt to explore the possibility of conducting a similar study in a larger scale in order to address the needs for understanding the information requirements of business executives particularly those in the managerial positions. Using survey questionnaires with open and close-ended questions, the findings provided rich and meaningful information about the information requirements of managers and their overall perception of information and know ledge management. The findings also revealed the important roles of information and knowledge managers and their desired competencies as perceived by the managers. Positive perception towards the establishment of a one-stop resource centre or library was also reported. The findings may assist in the effective provision of services by information or knowledge managers within the organizations and the provision of services by resource centres or special libraries.
