Abstract:
The rapid development of information technology will bring tremendous changes to libraries in the twenty-first century. Information professionals must be prepared to grasp this golden opportunity to enhance library services and resource sharing through networking. The Mullimedia Super Corridor (MSC) is the Malaysian government's mega project to encourage and support the proliferation of multimedia industries in the nation. It is also an
area to showcase the eight MSC flagships, that is, the Smart School, Electronic Government, Telemedicine, smart Card, R&D Clusler, Worldwide Manufacturing Web, Borderless Marketing Centre and Multimedia Funds Haven. In this digital era, information professionals must
transform libraries into multimedia digital libraries to consolidate their position as information managers and to ensure that libraries remain viable throughout the century. Information
technology will profoundly influence our socio-economic lifestyle and thereby affect the demands library users will make on libraries.
